GUIDING PRINCIPLES

"Eagles take flight with excellence, joy, unity and respect.”

Chantrell Creek students practice these principles in all they do. The purpose of our code of conduct is to enable every student to enjoy learning in a safe and orderly environment.

Eagles behave with excellence at all times.
Always put best effort into all learning activities
Play safely: no play fighting, tackling, pushing, shoving, kicking. Touch football only.

Eagles help to make our school a joyful place.
Be a good sport
Try to work out problems positively
Be kind and considerate to others
Treat others as you would like to be treated
Behave reasonably
Play games fairly
Immediately report incidents of bullying, harassment or intimidation to an adult in charge

Eagles practice unity.
Help new and lonely children
Be tolerant of others mistakes
Understand and respect that others are unique and special

Eagles respect ourselves, respect others, respect the environment.
Our students represent Chantrell Creek with pride at all times, whether at school, on field trips or at sporting activities.
Speak and act respectfully at all times: keep our hands and feet to ourselves, speak kindly at all times, help others.
Move quietly in the hallways so as not to disturb others' learning.
Sand and rocks stay on the ground; no throwing.

Unacceptable Conduct:
Behaviours that interfere with the learning of others, create unsafe conditions or damage the school or environment will not be tolerated. Acts of bullying, violence or retaliation toward a person who has reported incidents will not be tolerated. Illegal acts, such as: possession of illegal substances weapons or replicas of weapons will not be tolerated.

Age appropriate Expectations:
As students get older, there is an expectation that their behaviour will reflect a more mature perspective. There will be:
increasing personal responsibility and self-discipline
increasing consequences for inappropriate behaviour

Consequences:
Discipline is viewed as an opportunity to teach students. If they make a mistake, there is always a calm discussion about what the mistake was, why their behaviour is harmful, and how they can make restitution. In most cases, it is not necessary to go beyond this as infractions are minor, and non-repetitive. The more serious the infraction however, the more serious the consequence.

Parents are not usually notified in the case of a minor incident. However, if there are recurring minor incidents, or in the case of a serious incident, parents will be notified. This will include both parents of offenders as well as victims. In very serious incidents, school district officials, police and other agencies will be notified as appropriate. In cases that impact the entire school community, all parents will be notified in order to reassure members of the school community.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding these Codes of Conduct please contact the School Principal.
