CHANTRELL CREEK EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM

The students and parents of Chantrell Creek Elementary School participates in an Emergency Preparedness Program under the guidelines of the Province of British Columbia. The purpose of this program is to equip the school with sufficient supplies and provisions to sustain the student population, if isolated in the school, for a period of 3 days following a disaster such as an earthquake, hurricane, flood, etc. These supplies include a Search and Rescue Kit for the school as well as a “Grab and Go” bag for each classroom containing first aid supplies, drinking water, dust masks, temporary rain gear, flashlights, food rations, foil blankets, glow sticks, etc. The supplies were purchased on behalf of the school through the collection of a $20.00 one time fee from each family.

In order to ensure the school remains adequately prepared we ask each new family to Chantrell Creek Elementary school to contribute this fee of $20.00.  This money will be used by the Chantrell Creek Parent's Advisory Council (CCPAC) to purchase additional supplies for the "Grab and Go" bags and allow for the purchase of replacement items which have expiry dates as needed.

The Emergency Preparedness Committee feels it is important for each child to have a family photo and a letter of reassurance to provide comfort in a lengthy emergency. Ten decks of playing cards are also included in the kits.

We ask you to place these items in a sandwich / freezer zip lock baggie with your child's name and division number CLEARLY MARKED on the baggie.~ Please send this baggie to your child's teacher.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the PAC.

SCHOOL SECURITY: ENTERING THE SCHOOL

At Chantrell Creek, we welcome parents and visitors. We are glad you are here, and welcome your partnering with us to do the best for your children. As students are now settled into their daily routines, we respectfully ask all parents not to enter the school to pick up and drop off their children, as our entrance area becomes very congested. Please have your children meet you at a designated area or outside their classroom. Please make this arrangement with your son/daughter so that they know where you will be waiting. We do ask that all parents, older siblings, friends of the family, relatives, visitors, and guests sign in at the office to ensure student safety. As in the past, we ask that you check in at the office if you wish to leave a message with the classroom teacher or pick up your son/daughter. Employees and visitors in our school should be clearly identified. For security and safety reasons, we ask you to respect this procedure.

Throughout the year, if you wish to speak to your child’s teacher, please take a moment to set up an appointment. Please do not try to speak with teachers about issues with your children as the children are entering the classroom. Teacher’s primary interest in the mornings is to establish a good start to the day with their students.
