Mission Statement

Our mission is to foster academic excellence, social responsibility and physical well-being by establishing high standards of learning that we expect all students to strive towards.

We promote our mission by modeling the joy of learning, by working together in unity, and by respecting ourselves, each other and the environment.

Chantrell Creek is a Great school! What makes it great? Committed teachers, hard-working students and supportive parents!

1. Teachers: Every one of our teachers are committed to children! We are committed to High academic standards. All staff are committed to professional growth: attend conferences, workshops, school based professional development, professional readings, collegial networking, cooperative planning, and action research.

Every teacher is committed to bringing out the best in every child: careful assessment of each child, instruction geared to meet the child’s needs, one on one conferences with every child, clear communication with families, before and after school assistance as needed, Learning Support Team and counseling available for those who need extra help.

Our music programme is outstanding! Our students continually place very high in the annual district choral festival. All students K-6 participate in core music with Ms. Davies. All grade 7 students receive instruction in the band programme with Mr. Lord.

Bottom line, we are all here because we are committed to providing the very best educational experience for your child!

2. Students: Chantrell Creek students are full of enthusiasm for learning! They come to school well cared for and ready to learn. They are intelligent, polite and respectful.

Every child is an active member of A Community of Caring: Chantrell Creek goes the extra mile to ensure that every child feels safe and valued. Our students demonstrate respect for self, respect for others and respect for our school and the environment in everything they do. Older students look out for younger students on the playground, staff and students look for students who are left out and invite them to join in, and every class is involved in “buddy activities.” Students pride themselves on having litter free grounds, students wear inside shoes to keep our floors clean, leadership is developed among all students.

Student Leadership Team plans and implements several spirit activities throughout the year such as pajama day and crazy hair day. They also spearhead service projects such as collecting used eyeglasses for people in third world countries and a fundraiser to support a five year old cancer survivor who was raising funds for the Cancer Society.

Our Sports Teams excel! Parents, teachers and students work together to create exciting athletic opportunities for students. We are proud of our students, the outstanding sportsmanship they display whether winning or losing, and the excellent athletic skills they demonstrate in cross country, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and this year, we are fortunate to be able to add soccer.

This kind of enthusiasm creates a wonderful learning environment for the teachers to work in.

Parents: Parents and teachers work together as partners for the benefit of the children. We honour parents as a child’s first and most important teachers. Teachers value information and feedback regarding each student they work with. We work together to resolve issues for the good of the children.

Parents in the School Planning Council work alongside staff to plan, support and offer feedback on the school growth plan.

Our PAC works hard to support the school: taking an active interest in academic issues, seeking to understand how better to fulfill their role in supporting learning in the home, engaging in informed dialogue through monthly book study meetings with staff, raising funds to support important school projects, such as the Primary Guided Reading programme, technology, and playground. Monthly PAC meetings provide a vehicle for staff and parents to communicate and plan important activities and policies.

Staff, students, parents. We continually work together to ensure that Chantrell is a great school!
